Matangi Boutique Butchery and Showroom

With the introduction of our new Boutique Butchery in Hastings, located at 308 Heretaunga Street East, Hawkes Bay, NZ, we have taken a significant and exciting stride forward in the Matangi Story.

We now control every facet of the process, from Breeding to Farming, right down to the meticulous cutting of the beef in our very own facility, managed by our team of skilled butchers. This grants us complete control and allows us to maintain an unwavering focus on artisan meat production.

Our Opening Hours are 9am-3pm Tuesday to Friday.

Our Boutique Butchery has three main functions:

Processing

Primarily, it functions as a processing facility where we refrigerate our beef quarters and allow them to mature on the bone for a period of 21 days. We then breakdown the quarters and craft the highest quality cuts and products, which are then delivered weekly to our discerning customers across New Zealand. Additionally, we supply select chefs and restaurants nationwide.

Retail Store

The Matangi Butchery welcomes walk-in customers from Tuesday to Friday, providing the opportunity to purchase our premium beef directly from us, or collect your online order.

Just like a winery's Cellar Door, we operate as a Farm Door for our valued customers. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, we offer vacuum-packed cuts for your convenience. Thursdays and Fridays feature our full retail selection on display in our cabinet for you to explore our offerings firsthand.

Showroom

The Butchery also functions as a showroom for our beef, providing visitors with the opportunity to view our products, witness premium cuts Dry Aging in our exceptional Dry Aging Cabinet, and delve into Matangi's 3E concept: Excellence in Breeding, Excellence in Farming, and Excellence in Butchering.
